Dr. Garner's Column
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
Dear Dr Garner,
My husband is great in every way except for one thing- He has the worst temper. He rarely can take a 30 minute drive without shouting at someone.
He has little patience while helping the children do their homework.
When he gets angry his face turns red and you can see the veins on his forehead.
I am concerned that he is harming... read more

Dear Dr Garner,
I have been hearing about President Clinton, and the stents he had placed. My husband is in his 60’s and was told last week that he would need a by-pass operation for clogged arteries of the heart. I am a little bit confused as to what the difference is between the two.
Why did the President need both? Does this mean that my... read more

Dear Dr. Garner,
My sister swallows vitamins like they are candy. You can name any vitamin, and I guarantee that she takes it.
She doesn’t go to the doctor, and I am afraid that all these pills could be harming her.
She is 57 years old and basically in good shape. Do you think she could be harming herself?

Dear Dr Garner,
I am having an argument with my daughter. She says that I don’t exercise enough. I say, look at me, I do not look obese, and probably am of normal weight.
What do you think? She reads the Tablet every week and will listen to your opinion.
Thanks for your help, and I really enjoy the “Ask the Doctor” TV show.

Dear Dr Garner,
Our family is very upset, as my sister who is 43 years old was just diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Could you tell me anything you can about the disease and if there is hope for treatment soon. She is currently taking injections each day, which are painful.
I thank you and God Bless you for all you do.

Dear Dr Garner,
My husband is getting out of hand with his use of salt on every thing. No matter what I put in front of him, he grabs the salt shaker and shakes it at least 3 times.
I am worried about his health. His blood pressure is high and his brother died of a heart attack at about the same age he is now (67 years old).
Could you please... read more

Dear Dr Garner,
I am about to have knee replacement surgery and am quite scared. It is the first operation I will have had in my life. I am otherwise in good health, although slightly overweight.
Could you please help me to be less scared?

Dear Doctor Garner,
I am feeling lousy. I have a runny nose and cough, plus my muscles feel a little “achy”
I don’t have much of a fever, but don’t feel well enough to work. I asked my doctor for antibiotics (a Z- pack) that helped my friend but he told me it was not necessary for me. The cold is lasting now for at least a week and I am... read more

Dear Doctor Garner,
I recently heard you talking about the dangers of CAT scan on your TV show.
I am concerned, because I have had so many scans to evaluate my cancer.
You said that five Cat scans for an individual gave a risk for developing cancer similar to a Hiroshima atomic bomb survivor. Is there anything I can do to lessen my risks?

Dear Dr Garner,
I am almost ready for Christmas except for one embarrassing problem. No matter how much I brush my teeth, my breath does not smell so sweet. I notice people turning away from me when I talk. I have tried numerous remedies and am at a loss to figure this out. The problem has been there for at least a year.
