I-Witness: U.S. Vet remembers Normandy 5/30/11

On June 6, 1944, Rocco Moretto was one of 160 thousand troops who landed along a stretch of French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy. The invasion was as historic as it was bloody, with an estimated 10 thousand soldiers losing their lives on those shores and thousands more suffering casualties.

But Rocco Moretto lived to tell the tale. And in this I-Witness he shares with us his story of courage and faith under fire.

on behalf of those great men i was so priveliged to have served with during the D/Day invasion and the five campaigns that followed I would like to say that it was a pleasure for me to tell part of our story to the staff of the Currents TV show.

You are a man of honor who has shared first hand the sacrifices made for our freedoms. You are an inspiration to me and my family. How fortunate we are to have such a dedicated, humble man to represent this part of history.
