Brooklyn charity in need after fire

On Thursday’s show, we showed you how the Brooklyn-based charity CHIPS (Park Slope Christian Help) is coping after a devastating fire that started next door.  The CHIPS building was mostly spared from the blaze itself, but suffered significant smoke and chemical damage.  The charity’s kitchen and living quarters are off-limits until crews make repairs and inspectors declare the building safe.

The fire leaves at least two dozen women and children homeless, and while CHIPS volunteers are still able to serve meals on the premises, it’s a struggle since they can’t use the kitchen.

Needless to say, CHIPS needs your help to recover.  For more information, call 718-237-2962 or send a donation to:

CHIPS has been serving the needy in Park Slope for forty years. Now they need all the help that they can get because their insurance will only cover a fraction of the cost of rebuilding the interior and roof of their building. Their ( website ) describes their charitable work, provides a link to a video about the fire and its devastating consequences and an opportunity to donate using a credit card or PayPal. All contributions to this fine nondenominational organizations are tax deductible.
