On Thursday’s show, we showed you how the Brooklyn-based charity CHIPS (Park Slope Christian Help) is coping after a devastating fire that started next door. The CHIPS building was mostly spared from the blaze itself, but suffered significant smoke and chemical damage. The charity’s kitchen and living quarters are off-limits until crews make repairs and inspectors declare the building safe.
The fire leaves at least two dozen women and children homeless, and while CHIPS volunteers are still able to serve meals on the premises, it’s a struggle since they can’t use the kitchen.
