Confession 101

nat_body

Confession is one of those things many people, even some Catholics, feel funny about.  Not that it’s a laughing matter, rather many people don’t understand it or flatly deem the sacrament unnecessary.  Well, if there is anybody prepared to explain it, it’s Father Dave Dwyer of BustedHalo.com.  In my 2-part interview I included frequently asked questions.  And I had many, being that I haven’t been to confession too many times myself.

For those like me, going to confession can be a little intimidating.  Okay, a lot intimidating.  What sins merit confessing? What if I forgot how to do it? And what is the point? These are questions you may be asking yourself too and I hope that our interview sheds some light, pardon the pun.

For those in the NYC area, the Archdiocese of New York will be offering a steady 24 hours of confession starting this Friday, March 5, at 7am.

Fr. Dave has a way of making you feel comfortable when you go to Confession. I know him from St. Paul the Apostle. If you go to confession and have a serious Priest, you do feel afraid. I knou our sins are serious, but is he going to yell at me?
I do hear from alot of people about confessing only to God and not to a Priest. As long as I am on this earth, I will go to confession to a Priest. I feel better when the Priest says “your sins are forgiven”.
Your interview was great. Looking forward to the second half.
