On tonight’s edition of Currents, we hear from Nina Valmonte, who directs Parish and Community Outreach Services for Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens. Valmonte was one of two people from the local Catholic Charities office who took part in a roundtable discussion and White House policy briefing with representatives from the Obama Administration on how best to battle poverty in the U.S.
And next Monday, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens and the Food Bank for New York City are sponsoring a training and information session on what you can do to protect local food programs from government cuts. It’s happening at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, which is located at 6713 Ridge Boulevard. You can call Roxanne Henry at the Food Bank for New York City for more information. Her phone number is 212.566.7855. You can also email her at rhenry@foodbanknyc.org.
