New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan flew to Haiti this weekend to attend
the funeral of the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince.
Dolan was among hundreds of mourners who turned out Saturday for the
funeral of Monsignor Joseph Serge Miot. He was apparently in his
church office when the quake hit more than a week ago. Crews pulled
the archbishop’s body from the rubble of the cathedral last Tuesday.
The funeral service was held in a courtyard… Just outside where the
cathedral stood.
While in Haiti, Archbishop Dolan also had a chance to visit with
survivors and people helping with relief efforts. He slept in a camp
and ate from rations. Back in New York today, Dolan spoke with
reporters about his experience in the devastated island nation. Our
Matt McClure was there.
