February is Black History Month, when the country recognizes the legacy and contributions African Americans have made – and are still making to the U.S.
African Americans have also made vital contributions to the Church. Nowhere is that more evident than right here, in the Diocese of Brooklyn. This past Saturday one Parish celebrated these advancements in their own special way.
At St. Catherine of Sienna Church in St. Albans, Queens, the Brooklyn Diocese’s Vicariate of Black Catholic Concerns held a Mass of Thanksgiving for Black History Month. As we discovered, it was also a call for renewal.
