Ty Pennington may not have been there but the Peter J. Dellamonica Catholic Charities Senior Center got an “extreme makeover.” An enthusiastic group of young ladies from St. John’s University volunteered their time and talent to make the Astoria, Queens center a little brighter.

But that wasn’t the only renovation on people’s minds. With the proposed changes to Medicare and Medicaid in President Barack Obama’s newly unveiled deficit reduction plan, everyone at the center – the young and the young at heart – weighed in on the impact of the proposed changes on seniors today and the seniors of tomorrow.
