Is explaining Catholic teaching “hate speech”? Last week, that question was being debated around the country. An adjunct professor at the University of Illinois was fired – allegedly for explaining the Catholic stand on homosexual behavior in a class on Catholicism.

That professor, Kenneth Howell, is fighting to get his job back. He’s being represented by the Alliance Defense Fund and Francesca Maximé spoke by phone with Howell’s lawyer, Jordan Lorence.
