Flag day celebration an annual tradition at one Queens school 6/14/11

While Flag Day, which celebrates the day the official American flag we know and love was adopted, might not get as much attention as Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, or Independence Day, it is a bright star in the pantheon of special days set aside to honor our country and to remember those who fight for our freedoms.
Politicians, local celebrities, and soldiers mixed among the students at Immaculate Conception School in Astoria, Queens as they celebrated – for the 12th year in the row – their annual homage to the red, white, and blue.
