Helping the Hungry in Brooklyn – 2/8/10

Some promising news for job seekers – the unemployment rate in the
U.S. fell below 10 percent in January.

There is still plenty of cause for concern locally – according to
the latest numbers – the jobless rate in Brooklyn was more than 11
percent – higher than across the U.S. and the entire city.

Many are still keeping up hope – and doing what they can to help –
including the people at St. John’s Bread and Life. Founded in 1982,
the organization serves over two thousand meals to hungry New Yorkers
each day.

This Wednesday, they’re hosting a fundraising dinner – and our
Francesca Maxime recently had a chance to talk about that with St.
John’s Bread and Life Executive Director, Anthony Butler
