It has been two years since a devastating earthquake in Haiti left the country in ruins, forcing its already impoverished people to fall further into distressed conditions.
As charities and governments throughout the nation continue to express a committed desire to ramp up efforts to rebuild the island nation, one fact it seems remains alarmingly apparent—the progress of reconstruction remains painfully slow going. This lack of progress presents dangerous challenges to the country’s population– especially the nearly half a million still forced to live in tent communities and unsafe conditions in the aftermath of the quake.
