Just six months ago, New York’s state legislature voted to legalize same-sex marriage, and now, the issue will likely come up for a vote in New Jersey. Democratic lawmakers there announced a bill that would give same-sex couples in New Jersey the right to marry.

The New Jersey State Catholic Conference has repeatedly spoken out against such efforts. In a statement from 2009, they said Catholics must not abandon the Church’s teachings on marriage or stay silent on the issue. The Church teaches that marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

Earlier today, our Liz Faublas spoke with another group opposed to same-sex marriage.
