I once read this poem about forgiveness which touched me deeply. Let me share it with you.
The unforgiving mind is full of fear, and offers love no room to be itself; no place where it can spread its wings in peace and soar above the turmoil of the world. The unforgiving mind is sad, without the hope of respite and release from pain. It suffers and abides in misery, peering about in darkness, seeing not, yet certain of the danger lurking there.
Thankyou for the forem to share with you. May God Bless.

Some tears only God can wipe away. Some pain is so great to forgive can only mean to choose to not retaliate and there God will do the rest.
When we choose to forgive others ,that is an act of will where we choose to accept that we have been hurt by another[or others] at the same time we acknowledge their full humanity[they they are equally loved by God].To forgive is to accept reality -our brokenness[the fact that people have the power to hurt us] and the brokenness of the one who hurt us[that a person can choose to hurt us while being loved by God]and this acceptance of reality which is forgiveness, because we suffer opens us up to our need for God.Only God can heal us.

On the matter of captol punishment I’d like to share with you that My son is in law enforcement. The propensity of his not returning home one night, is rapacious. I am faced with the grim prospect of returning home. Wanting the death of my son’s assailant. But that will not bring my son back. I am antiabortion, I agaimst euthanasia and against the death penalty. It is my Christian duty, not as a Roman Catholic, but as a Christian. I hold what the Bible says Romans 12:20 (quote)” if your enemy is hungry, feed him , if he is thirsty give him drink in doing this you pour burning coals upon his head”
