Sit and Soak

When you spend time in God’s presence. Can people tell? Do people look at you and ask “Have you been soaking in God’s presence?” or perhaps “Have you been in prayer?” When Moses came down from the mountain people knew where he was and whom he was with. His face would be glowing with such intensity that it would cause people to look away.

Can you imagine for a minute a generation of people that would sit in God’s presence and that as a result people would look and say: where have you been? You look different. Can you take me there? When people look at you, when people bump into you, what do they see? What do they do? What do they think? Do they avoid you?

When a person has spent time at a beach soaking in the sun you can tell just by looking at them. Is this not true? By their appearance you can tell without a shadow of a doubt that they have been away in a place of peace, in place of relaxation in a place of where they have released their burdens and return renewed and filled with strength. I believe its time for us to soak in God’s presence. I believe its time to pursue God with reckless abandonment and cause others to do the same, not by our words but by our lifestyle. We need to be the people that God can count on to do what He does, to say what He says, and to go where He would lead us.

This weekend I was speaking in a conference in Kansas and many young people approached me and asked how they could also be on fire for the Lord and I said, “spend time with Him and allow His Love to burn you so deep inside that your body would be tanned by His love”. It’s time to sit and soak in God’s glorious and powerful presence.

When was the last time you sat and soaked in God’s presence? Seek out the parishes in your neighborhood that have Soaking Stations (Perpetual Adoration) and sit and soak.

Soaking has many benefits, including stress relief, alleviation of sleeping problems, and lower blood pressure. Immersing yourself in warm water calms internal organs and the endocrine system by stimulating nerves on the spinal cord. This is what happens when you soak in water, just imagine what can happen when you soak in His presence. If that does not make you want to visit your nearest Soaking Station, then I do not know what will.

Take time today to sit and soak, life can be hard at times and comes at us full speed ahead. We do not have the capacity to stop, change or evade life but God has the power to do what we cannot. Feeling overwhelmed? Feeling stressed? Feeling tired? Feeling sick? You need to sit and soak! I guarantee that with repeated sessions you will see a change in your body, mind, heart and soul. Believe it!

Wow!!! I’m in awe! The more you spend time with God the easier it will be to try to imitate Him! when we hang out with our friends we always try to imitate each other somehow in some way…Well, we have to hang out more with Jesus so that we can imitate his ways!!

this was beautifully written, the analogy of soaking in the sun is perfect. Thank you, i was in need of this. I need to hear Gods voice in my life, guiding me, especially today, and I think ima go to church after work and do some soaking. I need His presence.Sometimes the truth puts fear in us, and that’s why we stray away from becoming more intimate with God. But its also true that we need to face what we are confronted with, and there’s no better way to do it than with God with you, ever present in the decision-making, in the mending, in the holding of your hand in times when we feel we r walking alone. Much love, and peace. Stay blessed.

Wow… how true and so well put in plain egnlish my brother! so much has changed and can continue to change by soaking in the presence of our God! How amazing it it is and so second nature when we look up to someone who we think, now there goes somebody I would like to be. Why not look to our Lord in his whole… Body, Soul and Divinity and try to let him sink into us and be more like him? It is changin my life… and I KNOW IT WILL CHANGE YOURS! Thanks siervo for the reminder of not just to visit and have a 1 way station which causes it to be like a mirror reflecting his rays at us, but to remove that mirror and allow him to actually penetrate you deep inside! BRING ON THE SOAKING STATIONS!
    GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!

“oh let all who thirst…let them come to the water”…and let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord.

Thank you for sharing the resources that we need to make less excuses for ourselves.

“When we go before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament we represent the one in the world who is in most need of God’s Mercy.” We “Stand in behalf of the one in the world who does not know Christ and who is farthest away from God and we bring down upon their soul the Precious Blood of The Lamb.”
    - Pope John Paul II

David – One more time a great series of thoughts for us all to dwell upon. I’m ready to soak and “absorb” as much as I can of what the Lord has to offer – thanks for reminding us. Keep writing and we’ll keep reading. My prayers are with you. Please say some for me. Thanks. God be with you and your family and all at NET, the great place that you work. Ellen
